For hundreds of years, a Sommelier (saw-muh-LYAY) was the person
responsible for cellaring and serving wines to royalty and country
dignitaries. Eventually, with the explosive growth in popularity
of wine, the tradition of the Sommelier extended to restaurants
and serving establishments. Although originally derived from the
French word meaning butler, a Sommelier is a distinguished wine
connoisseur who has extensive knowledge of wines and their suitability
with various foods.
Our Sommelier Reserve wine collection not only honours the knowledge
of the Master Sommelier, it also distinguishes itself from any
other wine kit in the world. These are the top wines within their
kit category and although the commercial wine world has not yet
allowed us to enter our wines in their competitions, we have had
accolades from Master Sommeliers and Judges from around the world.
The offering changes monthly so check back often. The 18 L kits
offer you ultra-premium wines with incredible depth and taste;
wines which will delight you, your friends and family. Each wine
kit makes 30, 750 ml bottles of fine wine in eight weeks.
Migliore
A Super Tuscan style blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Sangiovese,
Migliore boasts a gorgeous dark purple colour and opulent
aromas of blueberries, espresso and cocoa. It is full-bodied,
luxuriously textured and rich with medium tannins and a
long, concentrated finish.
14.3% alcohol achieved by following wine kit instructions.
Food Matches: Pork, Lamb Roasts, Sirloin Steaks, Hearty
Pasta Dishes.

Amarone
This ageable Northern Italian favourite is full-bodied with
inviting aromas of plum, leather, chocolate and mushroom mingled
with light cherry and fig flavours. Amarone is a rich, dry
red wine, garnet in colour, long and balanced on the palate.
Food Matches: Dijon Pepper Steak, Roast Beef, Hearty Pasta
Dishes. |
Symphony
Symphony is a cross between two French varieties: Muscat of
Alexandria and Grenache Gris. The result is a soft, dry white
wine which will delight you with youthful aromas of mango,
papaya and bananas. This flavourful white wine is very floral
in style with a crisp, clean finish.
Food Matches: Ginger Pork Dumplings, Grilled Chicken Topped
Salads. Excellent refreshing accompaniment to any spicy food
such as Asian or Cajun dishes. |
Stag's Leap Merlot
Full and rich, this classic dry red has a bouquet of spice,
chocolate and dark berry fruits.On the palate, this wine is
juicy and soft with seamless tannins. |
Old Vines Zinfandel
Dark ruby red in colour with aromas and flavours of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry and spice. Perfectly balanced by rich oak and vanilla notes. The firm tannins provide great structure and mouth feel.
A great match with dishes that include sausage, beef, lamb, pork and venison, either braised, grilled or roasted as well as ribs with a spicy barbecue sauce. Zinfandel-friendly cheese choices include aged Parmesan, Dry Monterey Jack and Manchego.

Meritage
A classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet
Franc. This elegant dry red displays wonderful notes of red
currant, chocolate, blackberries an black cherry balanced
by traditional French oak.
This full bodied red wine complements all beef or beef-based
dishes such as prime-rib, steak au jus, steak au poivre, beef
spare ribs, braised meats, well-marbled steaks or filet mignon.
Great with lamb, duck and heartier pork dishes. Hard nutty
cheeses like Parmeggiano Reggiano, Asiago, Manchego, Cheddar,
Edam, Swiss and Gouda also go very well. |
Chenin Blanc / Chardonnay
A crisp and floral dry white with lively citrus, pineapple
and tropical fruit aromas. The taste is soft, rich and dry
with subtle lime and vanilla overtones. Serve with fresh crisp
salads, poached or broiled fish, chicken, light seafood dishes,
Asian cuisine and cream sauces. Also goes well with softer,
creamy cheeses such as Gouda and Brie. |
